Gethsemane and Jesus Arrested
The Jewish
authorities were expecting resistance to Jesus’ arrest but in the end there
wasn’t any. The crowd carrying swords and clubs were a mixed bunch of Jewish
officials and Roman soldiers (John 18:3) but Mark describes them as an unruly
crowd. Some people think that Mark was the young man who fled naked. He
describes the fear vividly.
